If you do a little web design, you can easily place ads on your site that will allow you to earn some cash through internet advertising every time someone clicks on one of your ads and subsequently buys an advertised product. Different vendors have different deals. Some will set a cookie on the users' machine that will allow you to be given credit for the sale even if the user does not make a purchase for several months!
There are several online services responsible for brokering advertising services. One that I use is LinkShare. LinkShare will even pay you for advertising the LinkShare Referral Program. In fact, if you head right on over to LinkShare right now, I'll get paid $1.50, and you'll be able to get paid in the same way by referring people to their internet advertising programs.
LinkShare has made deals with a wide variety of companies that seek advertising. They are the only provider that I have found so far that permits advertising for ScottTrade (my favorite stock broker). They also have deals with some other brokerage houses, including ShareBuilder.
The amount of time that it takes to get improved into each affiliate advertising program varies by program. Some of them will immediately authorize you to begin internet advertising their products right away. Others have a lengthy approval process.
